picked up some goodies at the ol' value village. i've had such a busy week i needed to go dig around for a bit but i ended up spending like $70 and an hour and a half there...oh well!

Yay! I made it out of the house again this week!

I have been tagged by the amazing LoveMore (have you seen her fashion week posts? now that's dedication!) to list 10 Facts about Myself! Oh good, my favorite subject!

I have to pee all the time. All the time.
I hate people who are sketchy with plans and forget/don't call etc.
I always laugh and talk at the same time and no one can ever understand me!
I spend lots of time thinking about what my cd is going to be called and what name I'm going to perform under and what my 'look' is going to be, even though I've only played one live show...
I will never give birth. If I want to raise a child I will adopt one. There are plenty of children who need homes, why are we making whole new ones? Vanity, I say.
I try to do one bold/outrageous thing every day. To keep myself out of my comfort zone.
I'm actually not a huge Erin Wasson fan...especially because she is way too skinny (not for a model, duh)! With her head/face her body just looks too petite. I think she has more of an 'actress' look (if she gained 15 lbs) than a model look. But I respect the woman, don't get me wrong.
I'm blown away at how some bloggers are able to make incredible connections/relationships with one another when they're half a world a part. This blogosphere thing can still be fairly alienating for me sometimes.
I have to get noticed every where I go. I hate eyes on me, but if they're not I feel like I'm doing something wrong.
I'm actually really funny. Like it's my best quality. And clearly, I know it.

I always have to 'stand out' in some way. I think this stems from my junior high years when I used to dress in OUTRAGEOUS punk/goth garb. I think you can still see this slight punk influence in my look today, it will always be with me!

What's your signature look?
It has always been skin tight tapered pants...since the age of 14. I used to get made fun of for this, but now...I guess it doesn't appear to be a signature look anymore. Just recently it has become THE BLAZER. And a neutral color palette. Regardless, I always try to exude a 'theme' or evoke an era with my outfits. I never like to be trapped inside one look. I like to give off an under-stated sex kitten vibe whenever possible...

What inspires you?
Fearlessness. Street style more than anything. When I see someone work a basic piece in a whole new way.

Who is your fashion muse?
Those effortlessly chic, haggard but still gorgeous naturally beautiful party girls.

Favorite purchase of all time:
I have a bad habit of buying cheap things, wearing them exclusively for a couple weeks, and then never wearing them again. Right now, my AA disco pants and my H&M moto jacket!

Biggest splurge?
I bought a Betsey Johnson dress for my graduation, I've worn it a few times after as well, so not bad.

What's your beauty routine?
I can't be bothered...anytime I've tried to get into a regular leg shaving nail polishing lotioning foot sloughing brow plucking face mask routine, I'm like, this is so futile!

What jewellery do you never take off?
I rarely wear jewelery! For a while I always had on my nameplate necklace, but I find jewelery annoying and constrictive...does my nose ring count?

The power to overcome myself and pursue my dreams. I am my own worst enemy.

I'm obsessed with music and thrifting adventures.

so i actually went out thursday friday AND saturday! (i don't go out often)but it wasn't even that amazing though. oh well, i looooooove getting dressed up and i definitely took advantage of the opportunity. these are from friday, tonight's are coming!

i found this brown fur coat for TEN DOLLARS at value village! can you believe it? if one of those lame vintage stores had snatched it up before me guaranteed it would have gone for 100 bones or something. anyway, i didn't end up wearing the white granny sweater underneath and yes, the glasses came out. but i get lots of compliments on them! do you think I should get my prescription lenses put in them? or are they too impractical? anyway, everything i'm wearing is thrifted except for the aa disco pants (obv).

I can't even begin to explain what it is that she does but I've posted a few images from her website as well as some scans I made from her book Fatal Distraction. If you're interested in more about her here is a great article you can read.

This last image has always spoken to me more strongly than any others. It's like being able to see your experience on paper, and no matter how painful, discovering that there is beauty there.

So, I mentioned in a previous post that I am trying out the Raw Vegan diet, and by diet i don't mean diet-ing i mean...the food you eat aka everyone has a diet. I think I'll make one big post about it this weekend but all in all I'm really excited so far. Today is day 9 of eating close to 100% raw and I lost 4 lbs the first week (added bonus)!

I've had to do a lot of guess and test experimenting. I bought a blender last Monday so I can start making green smoothies, but unfortunately this has involved a lot of food going to waste.

For example, last night i turned this beautiful assortment of veggies...

So like WOW. I am totally into this look. Ever since seeing the picture of Z in her lil white bustier i've been obsessed with finding something similar and incorporating it into my wardrobe.

but here's the thing...I'm weirdly enamored with (caucasian) FLESH TONE garments
I think that this would give the look a quirky unexpected twist...and un-hoochify it.
I'd also make sure it was a noticeably different color than my skin. I'm pretty pale so I wouldn't actually appear nude.

I went to Value Village on tuesday, a gigantic second hand store. This is one of those places where you have to dig, and you have to get there before all the vintage stores that buy things and then sell them for triple the price! Anyway, I spent $150 which can get you ALOT at a thrift store. I've been thrifting since junior high and I think I've developed quite the knack for finding amazing pieces. Here's a little sample of what I came up with!
HARHAR
okay, yes i know this dress is intense. but there was something about it that made me go "SOLD!". it has the largest shoulder pads in the entire freaking world! and the shiny animal print sold me. i was thinking of hemming it into a mini-mini, but it still retains a little bit of class at this length, no?
i had to buy this! it fit me like a dream! in fact, i actually bought a huge suit dress thing a while ago to sew into a dress a la this...looks like that will no longer by necessary. i love the gold buttons down the length and the sexy criss-cross in the back. i'm going to be hemming it just a little bit, i have it folded up in the side photos.
I wasn't totally sure about purchasing this dress, but i did anyway, clearly. it has that cutesy 90's vibe that i love that can be totally grunged up with the right styling. it's super comfy and it has pockets! yay!

ok that's all for now, and please excuse the mismatched nail polish (and lack thereof)! i was experimenting.

and now i'm off to get my hair done finally! 6 months of roots! 6 months!

Ever since seeing this photo of Z Berg of The Like on The Cobrasnake I have been searching the internet for something similar

which led me to hours spent drooling over Chloe Sevigny's collection for Opening Ceremony which included this top

also seen on Alessandra Terresani on The Selby

then I kinda figured out that TopShop was selling something similar this past year

and now I found one on Ebay! But it's tres expensive and also might be a bit tight on me...British sizes are weird. But imagine if I sewed in leather(looking)side panels or something! Totally unrealistic purchase for my wallet and body type but iwantiwantiwant!
